The delightful
lakeside road, with its plethora of authentic restaurants, and the large number of
local fishermen – who, at sundown, during the fishing season, can be seen near the shores of the lake in search of
tench and
lake whitefish – characterise the
village of Tavernola.
On the lake, you can indulge in your favourite watersports, including canoeing,
windsurfing, swimming and sailing, as well as sub-aqua and surface
fishing. The
olive trees alternate with
chestnut woods and
orchards. Located opposite is Montisola, the
largest lake island in central and southern
Europe, and just a few minutes’ drive will take you to the tourist hotspots of Lovere and Sarnico, which are famed for their
shopping and multitude of
sporting facilities. A few miles further on, you come to the spas of Boario, the pistes of Montecampione, the wineries of Franciacorta, the renowned
rock drawings of Valcamonica and the
natural pyramids of Zone.
Milan, Bergamo and Brescia are all within easy striking distance.
